01 / ABOUT THE PLACE

About this place

Roasted slowly inside traditional ceramic pots, sweet potatoes at Oimo turn soft, syrupy, and tender enough to savor straight through the skin. Located in Sumida Ward's Narihira neighborhood, this small specialty shop serves its signature tsubo-yakiimo piping hot as well as chilled and frozen, catering to casual mid-walk snacking as well as take-home treats with a longer shelf life. Sweet potato fans will also appreciate the rotating Daily Specials, which offer a chance to explore distinct varieties, origins, and natural sweetness profiles.

For a refreshing companion to the roasted tubers, the shop crafts a roasted sweet potato hojicha latte. The comforting aroma of baked sweet potato meets creamy milk and fragrant toasted green tea, finishing clean and light whether ordered hot or iced. On weekends, the counter expands to include sweet potato cakes and rich, chewy dried sweet potatoes, making it an easy drop-in spot for a simple sweet pause.

A small bench out front allows visitors to sit and enjoy their treats fresh from the counter while taking in views of the surrounding streets and nearby Tokyo Skytree. Gift boxes containing 5-piece sets are also available, making suitable gifts for casual gatherings or formal occasions alike.
